I

have no complaints as I walk home in the London drizzle this afternoon. I’ve long learned not to rely on sunshine alone to seek out things of beauty. (Although tell me that when I’m in the mountains or at the sea with my mind set on some photo opportunity or other in particular!)

he grey skin on this wild Scottish salmon gleams as the fishmonger at La Maree Fish Shop in Sloane Avenue cuts three steaks for the princely sum of £50 for our dinner this evening.

    50 quid for 3 salmon steaks... gward I will be down at Macca's for free wifi and cheap coffee and chips.. Am so looking forward to the trip and seeing you in Barcelona... and tell Eddy I can't wait to see him.. I love my urbane sophisticated men friends...

      Juanita, When the fishmonger repeated £60 a kilo twice I made a mental calculation that 3 slices couldn’t be more than £30. Of course, he proceeded to cut and chop through the bone and trim the steaks, and I knew I was in for the most expensive meal in yonks – A$83 on my Visa Card to be exact. The fish melted in your mouth; bland though in flavour. I think the peeled, bone-pinned salmon in mustard sauce that I bought at David Jones Food Hall in Bondi last week tasted so much better. See you at the Hotel Omm in a couple of weeks.
