Autumn 2011
Juanita and I are here in the South Island of New Zealand on the shores of Lake Wakatipu . . . outside Queenstown . . . for a short break.
We are so off the beaten path in ‘Lord of the Rings’ country.
But, we are so seriously ‘living the dream’ at Matakauri Lodge, perched on the cliff-side overlooking the lake and the ‘Remarkables’ mountain ranges.
We are but three hours from Sydney on a Qantas jet . . . but many worlds away.
We savour wonderful meals of the best New Zealand produce, and drink of the best wines. So much so, we don’t leave the Lodge to go into Queenstown for dinner on any of the three evenings we are in residence.
The video shows just how much there is to do in the Queenstown area . . . for all ages and interests. The golf courses are simply spectacularly located. And the countryside in autumn is so colourful, and as they say, ‘’Pure New Zealand!’ The video also showcases the wonderful meals we enjoyed with Chef Dale’s ‘Tasting Menu’ each evening.
Tt is much easy and fun to watch the video with your speech. Well done !!! great music you have selected and wonderful photos. it is very very good idea adding your voice. NICE JOB!!!
M, the owners of Makatauri lodge could use this video for their website to promote this place.
M….your short visit looked great. Lovely place and food looks fantastic also…You are really getting the hang of that video diary stuff.. Lovely shots…music still needs some work. If you don’t mind my saying so…..ha ha ….
Och’t’noo – what spectacular landscape… “unrivalled views” is exactly the phrase and I agree that the lodge should be made aware of your well composed visual essay. What a food-fest! And the fellow playing a piano al fresco… wonderfully fresh.
Thank you for identifying and sharing such a jewel of a place Michael… and only three hours away… amazing.

I have just enjoyed your terrific video from Quuenstown. Wonderful.
As you know, everyone is a critic and a budding director. What I would like to see in your very professional production is 1. slower, gentler fades from one still scene to the next, and 2. no or very little repitition of pics… you have so many great shots. If length was an issue, I’d linger a scond or two on each one, shown only once.
Makes us all want to return which I hope we can do in the not too distant future.
Congrats

Michael, I was just on the site to get the address for NZ trip report as am sending it to Ray and Robyn. I can see that you have done a lot of work adding some of your earlier trip stories.. this is really coming together in a FANTASTIC way. I have sent NZ link into AMEX, and will also send it to Carl Holt (for the golf group). I wish I had time to read more of it.. but I will get to it.
Off to Hobart today for dinner at Garagistes, MONA visit, etc.. back next Wed after staying with Cher… so have a good trip.
Love Juanita..
