May Day in Manhattan

t’s a short subway ride from the manicured streets of uptown Manhattan and the tranquility of Central Park down to Union Square for the May Day worker cooperatives event.

May Day in Union Square - Freedom in America

Demonstrators from Occupy Wall Street, Workers Solidarity, Immigration activists, and Communists gather in increasing numbers in Union Square. They’re waving flags, brandishing banners, punctuating calls for action with blasts from a trumpet or punching clenched fists in the air. The Police presence is quite amazing (and bloody expensive).
