Along the coastal road from Puerto Madryn in the south of Argentina, a potent smell stronger than seaweed, and roaring coming over the cliffs heralds our approach to a colony of sea lions at Punto Lomo. The swimmers seem to be doing the roaring and hooting while the females sleep in the sun. The old man lions with full mane are camouflaging themselves in the shade out of the reach of my camera lens. They’ve done their work for the day with their harem of from two to twelve of the females now sleeping in the sun. Rock shags fly in and out adding to the wonderful experience of nature in the Patagonia wild.
