A stop in London on the way home

T

here’s no such thing as a free lunch, but it’s not about the lunch today. I’m staying at Eddy’s for a couple of nights, and I’m ‘in-charge’ of dinner tonight.

Just been to M & S and love the ease of their prepared baked gammon (especially in a strange kitchen) – just slip it in the oven . . . some grilled pineapple and a salad (hope he has oil and vinegar!)

t breakfast, Eddy surprises by adding a freshly heated loaf of Züpfe – Swiss braided bread made by a friend of Mercedes in Zurich, which they brought home when they drove back from Switzerland last night. Absolutely delicious with Isma’s mother’s homemade fig jam made from the fallen figs she gathered from under the trees in her village in Spain – ‘waste not, want not!”

ish I were here longer after seeing what’s on offer at the Farmers Market on the Queen’s Lawn in the Imperial College, just across the street. Had to content myself with some goat’s cheese and fresh apples.

ut there was time to visit friend Hong Kong David Yeo’s new restaurant in The Shard, HuTong, for Dim Sum lunch. Delicious bites. And then for another friend, David, to walk us back across London Bridge to the City of London pointing out all the sights.

nd before leaving for the airport, I simply have to fit in my pilgrimage down to Pret A Manger on Knightsbridge for my regulation Langoustine and Rocket sandwich – best in the world!

    I love that this grand looking monument looks like it has been squeezed in between the buildings around it. Shame that it does not have the space it deserves, to be better appreciated.

    Dear M, I woke up this morning ,to find at great disappointment that you were on your way home to Oz after this"grand tour".As usual your blogs are great and your photography interesting and colourful,and the gastronomic master pieces of food you indulge in are a delight.,and I have enjoyed your current trip as well as many others So what am I to do now ,to start the day full of happiness and Micheal cheer who knows?
