O
My only concern has been that the weather be sufficiently clear for us to see (and for me to photograph) the Gergeti Trinity Church perched on a remote mountain top, and the 5,000 metre high, snow-cevered Mt Kazbek. Our tour operator titillated my senses by writing of this extinct volcano. “Grand and Dignified. It is at times capricious, even savage.” All I want is for it not to be shrouded in cloud.
“A worry-wart, aren’t I?”
And worry, I did. This morning I awoke at six and saw the sun shining and a clear blue sky. We’d all agreed last night that we’d take the opportunity for sleep-in and a leisurely ten o’clock start. “Will it cloud over? Should I wake them?”
Come eight o’clock, I am knocking on doors. Levan the guide tells me he’s arranged the picnic lunches to re ready only at ten. “Well, fix it”, I say not too patiently.
And we were on the road by nine!
