The visit to Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia is to be the main focus of our day, with expert guide, Clara. Entering the interior for the first time is an electrifying experience for all. The vast sense of space and light is amazing, while the architecture is awe-inspiring.
While the many depictions of Biblical scenes and Life of Jesus are to be expected, gaining insight into Gaudi’s use of various forms of Nature is fascinating. His designs are the abstractions of the geometry of Nature as seen for example in the tree branches supporting the ceiling, and the use of fruits, flora and fauna from the Bible as decorative elements.
When completed in 2026, the centenary of Gaudi’s unfortunate death, the existing four bell towers above the Navity Entrance will be eighteen in number. What is to be the magnificent ‘Gloria’ main entrance to the church is under construction at the moment.
Energised by the experience, we repair to the more earthly Bar Mut (with heavenly prices) for a tapas lunch and a few drinks and discuss all that we have seen.

Are they still working on that cathedral
Indeed they are. And it will take at least 20 more years before it is complete.
